“I’m a retired nurse. I know who to trust on a pandemic and on health care... It’s not President Trump or Vice President Pence.”

After last night’s Vice Presidential debate, Mainers across the state are calling out Mike Pence for his lies about the Trump administration’s failed pandemic response and deceptions to hide that they have no alternative health care plan if their attempt to destroy the Affordable Care Act is successful. They also praised Kamala Harris for presenting a powerful vision of how she and Joe Biden will contain COVID-19 and make sure that every American has access to health care.

Mainers, including one who lost a loved one to COVID-19, blasted the Trump administration for downplaying the severity of the virus, for suing to end the Affordable Care Act in the middle of a pandemic, and for dodging when asked to describe the non-existent Trump health care plan. Mainers agree: Kamala Harris won last night’s debate.

“Ever since the debate last night, I’ve been thinking about a member of our family that died of COVID-19 after months of battling the virus [...] she did have a pre-existing condition [...] If she had known what President Trump and Vice President Pence knew in January, she would likely be alive today, she would have known to take precautions [...] I’m a retired nurse. I know who to trust on a pandemic and on health care overall. It’s not President Trump or Vice President Pence. They ignored the science, they’ve been incompetent, and they don’t have a plan. And in the midst of a pandemic, they are suing to end the Affordable Care Act.”

WATCH

“Pence had no response when the moderator asked him to describe Trump’s plan for providing healthcare for folks with pre-existing conditions.  That’s because over the last four years, Trump’s never valued American’s health and safety enough to formulate any plan for health coverage. ”
