How to Submit a Petition for the 2026 State Convention
Any Maine Democrat is able to propose an amendment to the MDP Platform, Charter, and to run for State Committee by taking out an online petition through our system and collecting signatures from State Delegates and Alternates. The deadline to finish collecting signatures and submit a petition is April 17, 2026.
- Platform Amendment Petition - Platform amendments are used to make changes to the Maine Democratic Party's Platform and require a minimum of 25 signatures collected from State Delegates and Alternates. View the Draft Platform Here, and the Current Platform Here.
- Charter Amendment Petition - Charter amendments are used to make changes to the Maine Democratic Party's Charter (internal rules) and require a minimum of 25 signatures collected from State Delegates and Alternates.
- State Committee Ballot Petition - Democrats interested in running for State Committee must take out a ballot petition to run. These petitions require a minimum of 10 signatures collected from State Delegates and Alternates from within your county.

Convention Award Nominations
During each State Convention, One of the most important functions we do is to recognize those people who are exceptional in their field. Whether it is public service, party activism, or volunteerism and grass roots support, the following three awards recognize outstanding contributions to the Maine Democratic Party.
