After offering “no regrets” on casting a decisive vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, Collins is again backing a GOP appointed anti-choice judge
Augusta, Maine – Today, Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Tommy Garcia released the following statement on Susan Collins voting to confirm Trump-appointed Whitney Hermandorfer to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit:
“Just like when she made her decisive vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, today Susan Collins once again fell in line with her party and voted to confirm an anti-choice judge who poses a threat to women’s reproductive freedom. Voters will remember Collins' record, and vote her out in 2026.”
Here are some key points on the nominee Collins just voted to confirm:
Hermandorfer was lead counsel in a case defending Tennessee’s total abortion ban.
Hermandorfer was part of a suit that sought to invalidate a rule ensuring anti-discrimination protections and reasonable accommodations be made for people seeking abortion care.
Hermandorfer defended Tennessee’s restrictions on giving information on where to get an abortion to patients who requested it.
Last week, the Maine Democratic Party released a new video highlighting Susan Collins offering “No Regrets” on her decisive vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
