Maine Democrats Open Bangor Field Office—Earliest Off-Year Launch in Party History

Bangor, ME – Earlier this month, the Maine Democratic Party hosted over 50 Democratic volunteers, leaders, and elected officials at the opening of its new Central Maine field office in Bangor. This latest investment reflects the Party’s commitment to year-round organizing, a key promise from new Chair Charlie Dingman and Vice Chair Imke Schessler-Jandreau.

The Bangor office will serve as the hub of MDP’s Down Ballot Victory Program—a strategic initiative to recruit, train, and elect local Democrats across Maine. From school boards to select boards, this program is about building lasting Democratic infrastructure at every level of government. To support this effort, MDP has brought on two experienced field organizers—Zach Birger based in Lewiston and Dustin Small based in Bangor. The program is led by veteran organizer Dan Lord, who has helped Democrats maintain control of the state house across multiple election cycles.

“Local elections matter,” said Dan Lord, MDP’s Down Ballot Director. “They help us build the bench, mobilize voters in key areas—including in red and rural Maine—and elect Democrats who care about their communities and will deliver for working Mainers. We know that having experienced organizers working with candidates and volunteers makes a real difference, now and in the future.”

The Down Ballot Victory Program has already seen notable success, helping to win 14 out of 18 races the Party invested in during the June 10 elections.

“We’re not waiting—we’re organizing now, and we’re organizing everywhere,” said MDP Chair Charlie Dingman. “From Madawaska to Eliot, we’re building Democratic power from the ground up.”
