President Trump’s promise to “look at” cuts to Social Security and Medicare this year has put Senator Collins’ record in the spotlight and raises the question: does she support his plan?

Senator Collins repeatedly voted for Republican plans to undermine Medicare and Social Security and then pushed for the GOP tax law that has added nearly $2 trillion to the national debt and "trimmed a year of solvency from the primary Medicare trust fund and had a negative effect on the Social Security trust fund."

Senator Collins promised that the GOP tax cut would pay for itself, but instead her vote put coverage protections at risk for the nearly 600,000 Mainers with a pre-existing condition, raised health care premiums and imposed a new marriage penalty on Maine families all while causing the national debt to skyrocket.

“Senator Collins’ vote for the GOP tax bill sold out our seniors so the corporate special interests that are bankrolling her campaign could reap billions,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “Does Senator Collins plan to vote with her party again when they come after Social Security and Medicare -- like she’s done repeatedly? Mainers deserve to know.”
