As Senator Susan Collins forges ahead in her 662 day streak of refusing to be honest with Mainers about her support for Donald Trump, she’s dodging more questions from Maine reporters about her presidential vote. Yesterday, she refused to respond to a question from NEWS Center Maine about how she’s voting.
ANCHOR: But as Democrats say, Collins still refuses to say who she supports.
COLLINS: Well, as I’ve said I’m concentrating on my own race which obviously is a tight race.
Though Collins isn’t willing to give Mainers a straight answer, her record leaves no doubt about her full support for Trump:

According to CQ, Senator Collins has voted with Trump 94% of the time.

Trump has said he’s “100%” behind Collins’ campaign and has said he hopes “she does well.”

Senator Collins has consistently helped shield Trump from accountability, including voting a dozen times to block witnesses and evidence before she voted to acquit him on all charges in the Senate impeachment trial.

Senator Collins has been a critical vote for Trump’s priorities in the Senate, from backing the GOP tax giveaway to corporations and the wealthy to voting to confirm every single one of his judicial nominees in 2017 and 2018.

Maine GOP Chair Demi Kouzounas has confirmed Collins and Trump “both support each other.”
“Senator Collins owes voters an honest answer about her support for the president,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “Mainers expect our leaders to tell us the truth, but Collins has made a political calculation to dodge this question for as long as she can get away with it.”
