Sanders Joins Previously Announced Lineup with Sen. Warren, Gov. Mills, Reps. Pingree and Golden, US Senate Candidates

Today, the Maine Democratic Party announced Senator Bernie Sanders as a featured guest for their upcoming “Rise & Organize” online rally, a one-of-a-kind virtual gathering of Democrats set for Sunday, May 31 at 3:00PM. Sanders joins previously announced featured guests including Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Janet Mills, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Congressman Jared Golden, and Democratic US Senate candidates Speaker Sara Gideon, Bre Kidman, and Betsy Sweet.

“Senator Sanders brings a passion and energy to movement building that has ushered in a new generation of young people ready to transform this country,” said Kathleen Marra, Chair of the Maine Democratic Party. “His energy, ideas, his leadership, and his commitment to working people have no doubt strengthened the Democratic Party, and I’m glad he’s in this fight to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”

The online rally will also feature members of the Maine House Democrats and Maine Senate Democrats, State Treasurer Henry Beck, State Auditor Pola Buckley, Secretary of State Matt Dunlap, and Attorney General Aaron Frey. The Maine Democratic Party expects to announce additional speakers prior to the rally.

The Rise & Organize Rally will be live-streamed on Sunday, May 31 at 3:00 PM on Facebook and other streaming platforms. Democrats who want to attend are encouraged to get their free virtual tickets here.

“Times are tough, and there’s no question that the coronavirus has changed our lives. But that just means we have to hold tight to our Democratic values and do the hard work of organizing to make sure those values win this November,” Marra continued. “We all have to take an active role in making sure we succeed in our mission to defeat Susan Collins, elect Joe Biden, re-elect Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, and expand our majorities in the State Legislature. We encourage Democrats to join us on May 31 to show support for Maine Democrats and get ready to Rise & Organize together.”
