Westbrook, MAINE – In case you missed it, in its latest set of power rankings released last night, National Journal identifies Maine’s governorship as one of the most likely seats to flip this year. Calling Republican Governor Paul LePage “controversial”, National Journal wrote that “the fundamentals favor Democrats”, placing Maine third on their list of ten seats most likely to change hands in November. National Journal is one of five national media outlets that have ranked Maine as likely to flip, along with NBC News, the Washington PostPolitico, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball

“Under Governor LePage and Republican leadership, Maine has lagged behind the nation in economic growth, Maine people still feel like they can’t get ahead, and dysfunction has become the norm in Augusta,” said Phil Bartlett, Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party. “Mainers are ready for a change – but all the Republican candidates are offering is four more years of the same. Maine Democrats are ready to deliver a bold, new agenda focused on growing our economy by empowering the middle-class – and we will work hard every single day to earn the votes of Maine people as we pursue it.”
