With the US Senate in recess, Maine Dems will continue to hold Collins accountable for her recent actions and call out her decades-long failures

Augusta, Maine – Today, the Maine Democratic Party is launching Collins Cost Us, a campaign throughout August recess to expose Susan Collins’ record of costing Mainers their health care, their rights, and a real leader in the Senate who prioritizes Maine. Maine Democrats and Mainers across the state will highlight Susan Collins’ decades-long record of failing Mainers and call out Collins’ recent actions and votes that harm Maine – like her “pivotal vote” to advance the Republican budget bill that will devastate Maine.

The Collins Cost Us campaign will include press events, protests, and newspaper ads, and feature Mainers who have been particularly harmed by Collins’ actions in the Senate.  

Here’s some of what Susan Collins has Cost Us:

  • Collins cost Mainers their health care when she greenlit the advancement of Republicans' toxic budget bill that will rip away coverage from over 61,000 and shut down hospitals in order to pay for tax giveaways to billionaires.

  • Collins cost Mainers their security and freedom when she repeatedly “rubber-stamp[ed]” anti-choice Trump appointed judges — including her pivotal vote to confirm Justice Kavanaugh that led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

  • Collins costs Mainers the chance to discuss issues with their representative by refusing to meet with constituents in a meaningful way.

  • Collins costs Mainers a leader who prioritizes Maine when she refuses to use the power and seniority she campaigns on to put a stop to harmful legislation and instead has Trump and Republicans’ backs.

Collins Cost Us comes after Collins faced a grueling month of awful headlines, sharp criticism, and revolting reactions from Mainers in July.
