Augusta, ME – Today, the Maine Democratic Party announced an expansion of its communications operation to elect progressives up-and-down the ballot in 2020. Seth Nelson will serve as the new Communications Director.

Seth is a communications strategist who has worked with advocacy coalitions, activists, and nonprofits to advance progressive causes. Seth comes to the Maine Democratic Party from SKDKnickerbocker, where he worked on a variety of issues such as reforming our broken democracy, opposing President Trump’s inhumane child separation policy, and protecting sexual assault survivors’ civil rights to access their education.

“Maine Democrats are working hard to elect progressive Democratic leaders from the school board to the halls of Congress. The 2018 election put Maine on the right track with Governor Mills in the Blaine House, majorities in the House and Senate, and two Democratic members of Congress. It’s critical that we keep that momentum going in 2020 to ensure Mainers have a government that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few,” said Kathleen Marra, Chair of the Maine Democratic Party. “We’re expanding our team to do just that, which is why we’re excited to bring Seth on board.”
