Maine Democratic Party Chair Phil Bartlett issued the following statement congratulating Janet Mills on her victory tonight:
“Janet Mills has been a tireless advocate for Mainers her entire career, and she’ll continue on in that advocacy as our next Governor. Tonight, Mainers voted for the change they’ve been longing for. They voted to move Maine in a new, better direction. Now, with majorities in the Maine House and Senate, it's time for Democrats to get to work and fulfill the promises we made to Mainers, and we can't wait to get started."
Bartlett also thanked Janet Mills’ general election opponents for their contributions to the race:
“Shawn Moody, Terry Hayes, and Alan Caron made it very clear to us all that they love their communities and want to see Mainers from all walks of life to succeed, and we thank them for their contributions to this race and to our state.”
