Following the conclusion of Maine’s first Presidential Primary since 2000, Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra issued the following statement:

“The vast body of experience from the hundreds of town clerks, local election officials, and Maine’s Secretary of State ensured that today’s Presidential Primary Election operated smoothly and efficiently, and I want to thank them for their hard work in facilitating this important democratic process.

“I also want to congratulate all the presidential candidates for their hard work earning votes from Democrats in Maine’s historic primary election. We saw high turnout from Democrats who are fired up to make Donald Trump a one-term president.

“Now that we’ve cast our ballots, it’s time to turn to the hard work of organizing, because voting by itself won't be enough to win. We need Democrats across the state to knock doors, make calls, and talk to friends, families, and neighbors so that we can build the grassroots coalition we’ll need to defeat Donald Trump and Susan Collins and elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November.”
