Augusta, MAINE - After Governor Janet Mills unveiled her first biennial budget this afternoon, Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra applauded Governor Mills for putting forth a budget that delivers on the promises Democrats made to Mainers during the 2018 election.

“Governor Mills’ budget proposal is, to put it simply, a breath of fresh air,” said Marra. “After years of seeing our property taxes rise, our schools go underfunded, health care becoming more inaccessible and too costly, and not nearly enough being done to bring an end to the opioid epidemic that has taken the lives of so many Mainers, Governor Mills and Democrats in the State House are making it clear with this budget that they intend to deliver on the promises they made to Mainers to improve their lives.”

Governor Mills is scheduled to deliver her State of the Budget address on Monday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m.
