Moments ago in the Appropriations Committee, Senator Susan Collins again voted to allow President Trump to raid military funds to pay for the border wall:

This is the latest example of how, when it matters most, Senator Collins does not stand up for what is right and instead votes lockstep with the White House. Last month, she voted against a measure “to block President Trump from diverting funds for the construction of a wall on the southern border.” That amendment failed and the president’s $3.6 million deferments from states across the country continue to move forward – even though the Pentagon warned of the “dire outcomes” for delaying these military projects.

What's more, these two deciding votes are the exact opposite of what she promised Mainers just this month when she said that "the President, in my judgment, is not acting according to the separation of powers laid out by our founders when he diverts billions of dollars that were appropriated for one purpose for another."

“It’s the moments when her vote would have the greatest impact that Senator Collins chooses instead to toe the party line,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “Senator Collins likes to talk about her promises here in Maine but these votes show how easily she’ll break them in Washington.”
