Yesterday the Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives advanced the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, fulfilling one of President Biden’s key campaign promises. Both of Maine’s congressional leaders, Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, cast votes enthusiastically in support of the measure.
“Maine families and workers stand to benefit tremendously from the passage of this infrastructure legislation. Federal investments in Maine’s infrastructure have been postponed time and time again, but thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Democratic congressional leaders like Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, that changed yesterday,” said Drew Gattine, Chair of the Maine Democratic Party. “The Biden administration has made good on their promise to make common sense investments in roads, bridges, reliable high-speed internet, clean drinking water, and much more - a promise that Republicans failed to deliver on when they controlled the government just a few years ago. Combined with the great news in this week's jobs report demonstrating record low pandemic unemployment, it is crystal clear that President Biden’s economic plan is working and Democrats are delivering for people in Maine and across America.”

A $1.3 billion investment in Maine’s roads and $225 million for bridges.

Investment in clean drinking water that will eliminate toxic chemicals and replace outdated lead service lines.

Hundreds of millions to expand our electric vehicle infrastructure, update our electric grid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
