Bobby Charles Has Embraced the GOP’s Health Care Cuts and Insurance Price Spikes. Do Jonathan Bush and Other Maine GOP Gov Candidates Agree?

With their majorities in Congress and control of the White House, the GOP has ripped health care away from 61,000 Mainers, put rural hospitals at serious risk of closure, and closed one primary care practice in Maine — all to help pay for tax cuts for the rich.

Now, under their watch, we are in a harmful government shutdown that’s hurting Maine families, and the GOP is on track to drive us off a health care cliff that will hike typical ACA premiums for 50,000 Mainers from “about $260 to $440” per month.

Maine GOP gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles has already backed the GOP’s disastrous health care cuts and is in full support of their strategy to keep the government shut down rather than work with Democrats to prevent health care price spikes. And his fellow gubernatorial candidate David Jones bragged about his “record of supporting Trump since 2015.”

The question now for Jonathan Bush and the other Republican gubernatorial candidates: Do they agree with Charles on supporting D.C. Republicans’ agenda of taking Mainer’s health care away and driving up the cost of coverage?

“After Bobby Charles and David Jones rushed to embrace Donald Trump’s deeply unpopular economic agenda, the rest of the Republican gubernatorial field owes Mainers answers: Do they stand with families and their health care, or with the GOP establishment in DC that’s turned its back on Maine families and Maine’s rural hospitals?” said Maine Democratic Party Chair, Charlie Dingman.
