Maine Beacon: Collins’ reelection campaign video features anti-abortion Maine lawmaker

February 18, 2026

  • Stacey Geurin, an outspoken anti-abortion senator representing Maine’s 4th Senate District, is featured in U.S. Sen. Susan Collins recently released campaign launch video. Guerin has used graphic rhetoric about abortion, aligned herself with efforts to roll back reproductive rights, and  promoted election conspiracy claims.
  • Collins, who has claimed throughout her career that she is pro-choice, has consistently aligned herself with anti-abortion individuals and most notably has voted in support of Supreme Court judges who worked to overturn Roe v. Wade. She has said she has “no regrets” about her votes.
  • Guerin has made false claims on Facebook about abortion that go against numerous scientific studies supported by the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. In June 2025, as Maine lawmakers debated abortion-related bills, Guerin distributed anti-abortion materials to fellow senators. She attended an anti-abortion protest at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022.
  • Guerin has also made statements amplifying conspiracy theories and casting doubt on the 2020 election. In September 2020, she suggested the biblical “rapture” “could be soon,” referencing the “‘mark of the beast,’ microchips, no cash/just plastic, marshall [sic] law, total government dependency/control.” After the 2020 election, she called on Maine’s attorney general to join a Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn results in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
  • Collins’ launch video comes as she became the 50th senator over the weekend to support the SAVE America Act, an extensive voter suppression bill being pushed by Pres. Donald Trump. The ACLU has condemned the bill as a “thinly veiled attempt to interfere with our elections,” said Xavier Persad, senior policy counsel for ACLU’s National Political Advocacy Department.
