As Senator Susan Collins attempts to greenwash her record to portray herself as a champion for our public lands, it’s important for Mainers to know that Collins has enabled the Trump administration’s assault on our lands, waters, and most important environmental protections.

Collins voted to confirm David Bernhardt as Interior Secretary despite the fact that he had already overseen the largest elimination of protected lands and waters in U.S. history. She also voted to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which comprises over 19 million acres of sensitive public lands. And in 2017, Collins cosponsored legislation that would endanger Maine's waterways and weaken protections against aquatic invasive species, potentially costing Maine millions of dollars per year.

“With the Gulf of Maine warming faster than 99% of the rest of the ocean, we need a Senator who fights for our environment at every opportunity,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “It’s clear why Susan Collins has lost the support of top environmental advocates like the League of Conservation Voters: her unwillingness to stand up to Trump’s assault on our environment has been shameful.”
