Biden joins Maine Democratic Party Rally With Sen. Sanders, Sen. Warren, and Gov. Mills

Today, the Maine Democratic Party announced that Vice President Joe Biden will address Maine Democrats as part of their upcoming “Rise & Organize” online rally, set to take place Sunday, May 31, at 3:00 PM. Biden joins previously announced featured guests including Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Janet Mills, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Congressman Jared Golden, and Democratic US Senate candidates Speaker Sara Gideon, Bre Kidman, and Betsy Sweet.

“The choice this November could not be clearer for Maine Democrats. Donald Trump is a man of chaos and cruelty, while Joe Biden is a man of character and compassion,” said Kathleen Marra, Chair of the Maine Democratic Party. “Now, more than ever, we need a president with experience and empathy to lead the way forward. Maine Democrats are ready to work together to put a leader back in the White House who has a bold vision for our future and who will fight for all of us. Maine Democrats are ready to Rise & Organize for Joe Biden.”

The online rally will also feature short messages from a number of other prominent Democrats not previously announced, including Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez, former Congressman Barney Frank, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, and former head speechwriter for President Barack Obama Jon Favreau. Additionally, Tribal Ambassador of the Penobscot Nation and member of the Penobscot Nation Tribal Council Maulian Dana will open the program with a Native Land Acknowledgement.

Previously announced featured speakers include members of the Maine House Democrats and Maine Senate Democrats, State Treasurer Henry Beck, and Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. The full list of featured speakers can be found at www.mainedems.org/riseandorganizerally.

The Rise & Organize Rally will be live-streamed on Sunday, May 31 at 3:00 PM on Facebook and other streaming platforms. Democrats who want to attend are encouraged to get their free virtual tickets here.

“Times are tough, and there’s no question that the coronavirus has changed our lives. But that just means we have to hold tight to our Democratic values and do the hard work of organizing to make sure those values win this November,” Marra continued. “We all have to take an active role in making sure we succeed in our mission to elect Joe Biden, defeat Susan Collins, re-elect Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, and expand our majorities in the State Legislature. We encourage Democrats to join us on May 31 to show support for Maine Democrats and get ready to Rise & Organize together.”
