Augusta, MAINE – While earning the endorsement of the Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund today, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Janet Mills pledged to protect Maine’s environment and grow the state’s clean energy economy. Her forward-thinking positions stand in stark contrast to Republican gubernatorial nominee Shawn Moody, who has denied climate science.

Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement:

“Climate change is hammering our state and threatening the future of our fishing industries and the thousands of Mainers who work in them. But rather than work to develop proactive solutions, Shawn Moody apparently thinks it’s more important to deny the basic and overwhelming science behind climate change – and that doesn’t bode well for Maine’s future.

“Having grown up in rural Maine, Janet knows how critical our environment is to our state, and that’s why she’s not only committed to protecting our natural resources, but also to building a clean energy economy that will reduce pollution, protect our health, and create thousands of good paying jobs.”
