Augusta, MAINE – In response to U.S. Senator Susan Collins’ announcement today that she will vote in favor of the Republican tax plan, Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement:
“Senator Collins has let down the people of Maine. As a result of her disappointing decision, and that of Congressman Poliquin, middle-class people in Maine are likely to face higher health care costs and higher taxes – all so that the wealthiest can line their pockets with even more money.
"Hardworking Maine families deserved far more than they got from this bill, and we’re disappointed that Senator Collins didn’t agree.”
