Augusta, MAINE – Yesterday, the Maine Democratic Party further pushed back against President Trump’s vulgar comments referring to Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations as "shithole" countries, passing a resolution condemning Trump's remarks through the Democratic State Committee. Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement:
“President Trump's comments were not only divisive and racist, they run entirely counter to American values. This shameful behavior cannot be allowed to pass by without notice or consequence. I commend our Democratic State Committee members for their swift leadership to demonstrate that when the President speaks disrespectfully of foreign nations, he speaks only for himself.”
