Following President Biden nominating DC Circuit Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as Associate Justice on the US Supreme Court, Maine Democratic Party Chair Drew Gattine released the following statement:
“The Maine Democratic Party applauds President Biden’s choice of Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. One of the brightest legal minds in the country, Brown Jackson has deep experience across the American judicial system and is certain to be an excellent justice. We are particularly proud of her nomination because as both the first Black woman and former public defender to serve on the court, she will provide an important new perspective to our nation’s most important cases. We call on both members of Maine’s senate delegation–both of whom have voted to confirm Brown Jackson in the past–to work with the administration to swiftly confirm her to the court.”
