Today, President Biden will be in Maine to discuss how Bidenomics is building the economy from the bottom up and middle out. Ahead of the visit, Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake issued the following statement:

“Mainers are proud to welcome President Biden to the Pine Tree State to talk about how Bidenomics is rebuilding our economy from the bottom up and middle out. Maine families remember how the previous administration left working families high and dry while rigging the economy for big corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Now, thanks to the Biden-Harris administration, Mainers are reaping the benefits of thousands of new jobs, lower costs, and upgraded infrastructure. The contrast could not be more clear.”

Here’s how Bidenomics is delivering for Maine:

  • Unemployment is down to 2.4% in Maine, with 28,700 new jobs created under the Biden-Harris administration.
  • 356,200 seniors and other Medicare Part D beneficiaries in Maine will save money on prescription drug costs thanks to President Biden’s $2,000 yearly cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs, a $35 monthly cap per insulin prescription, and free vaccines.
  • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is bringing $1.5 billion in public infrastructure investment to Maine – including funding for transportation improvements, clean water infrastructure, and climate resilience initiatives.
  • The Inflation Reduction Act will bring an estimated $250 million investment in large-scale clean power generation and storage to Maine between now and 2030, creating new jobs across solar, wind, storage, and other clean energy industries.
  • Maine is receiving $576.9 million in funding from the Biden-Harris administration to provide affordable, reliable high-speed internet to homes across the state.
    • Over 87,600 households in Maine are saving $30-75 per month on high-speed internet through the Affordable Connectivity Program
