Westbrook, MAINE - Today, United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited Portland to discuss the opioid epidemic.

Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement:

“Having additional law enforcement resources as a tool to fight the opioid epidemic is important, but it’s no substitute for expanding Medicaid and putting new federal funding behind proven treatment methods—that’s where Governor LePage and President Trump have fallen painfully short. Their empty promises and inaction are costing people their lives and Mainers can’t afford to keep waiting, and that’s why Democrats are ready to offer real solutions.”
