Westbrook, MAINE - Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement responding to Senate Republicans’ unprecedented Order which permits the Senate President to pursue broad legal action regarding the implementation of RCV:
“The GOP’s order is nothing more than another brazen and obvious attempt to thwart the will of the voters and undermine RCV under the guise of election integrity — all because they know that their failed policies are losing them support across the state and that their best shot at victory is by dividing the electorate.
“Rather than make things more difficult, Republicans should work with Democrats to advance a fix that is consistent with the will of Maine people who have now twice expressed their support of RCV. Anything else is brazen and desperate politics.”
