Maine Democratic Party Marks One Year Until the 2020 General Election

One year out, Maine Democrats are laying the groundwork to defeat Donald Trump and Susan Collins and elect Democrats up-and-down the ballot.

Augusta -- One year out from the 2020 General Election, today Kathleen Marra, Chair of the Maine Democratic Party released the following statement:

“One year from today, Mainers will head to the polls to cast our votes in an election with so much at stake: Affordable access to health care, a healthy environment, the ability to work one job for a living wage, and a government that works for all people, not just the wealthy few.

“Maine is leading a movement—one that started in the Second Congressional District with Jared Golden’s election in 2018. Every path to taking back the United States Senate runs through our state. And no matter who is president, we need a Senate that will work for the people to give everyone a fair shot at success.

“We have to hold on to our majorities in the state House and state Senate. We have to re-elect Jared Golden and Chellie Pingree. And we have to defeat Donald Trump and Susan Collins.

But to be successful, we’ll need every Democrat rallying behind our eventual nominees for president and Senate to put our party in the strongest possible position to win the White House, defeat Susan Collins, and help Democrats secure victories at every level of the ballot in 2020.

Simply voting is not enough. The hard work of organizing and unifying to win begins now.”
