Maine Democratic Party Celebrates Municipal Election Victories Across the State

Augusta — Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra released the following statement on last night's election victories:

“Last night’s historic municipal election victories across Maine — for offices like Charter Commission, City Council,  and Mayor — shows that Maine is hungry for leaders who are diverse, hopeful, principled, and ready to move Maine forward. Local governments have tremendous power to influence our daily lives and what our communities’ priorities are, which is why we believe it’s so important to elect leaders that share our values.

“Last night, Mainers did just that. These candidates showed us that simply voting is not enough — they had to outwork and out-organize to win their hard-fought races.  We congratulate them and look forward to working together to make real progress for Maine families.

“Susan Collins should be worried watching Maine Democrats make history last night. Maine is leading a movement — our candidates are young, diverse, and ready to get to work. Her plan to ride Donald Trump’s coattails to victory in 2020 won’t be enough. Voters showed last night that they are rejecting the divisive Trump Republican Party platform and are ready for a change.”
