Westbrook, MAINE – If tonight’s televised Republican gubernatorial debate on NEWS CENTER Maine is going to be anything like their forum on Newsradio WGAN yesterday, get ready for a knock-down-drag-out fight.

Mayhew, Fredette, Moody, and Mason yesterday morning during a radio forum relentlessly launched attacks at one another, and primarily Moody, as they continue to attempt to claim LePage’s conservative mantle.

The attacks even led Shawn Moody to admit that the race “is not about issues, per se” despite the fact that Maine’s economic growth lags the nation, the opioid crisis continues to devastate the state, and Maine families – especially those in rural Maine – continue to feel left behind by LePage’s legacy.

“The Republican primary for governor is getting more and more contentious with each passing day,” said Phil Bartlett, Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party. “Mary Mayhew, Shawn Moody, Ken Fredette, and Garrett Mason are working hard to out-LePage one another, continuing to push his most extreme policies and promising to be four more years of his failed Administration. This race is about to become an all-out melee, but what’s worse is that whoever emerges from it will surely be ready to be Maine’s next Paul LePage.”
