Yesterday, Senator Susan Collins refused to answer whether she believes that Donald Trump should be reelected, continuing her 615 day streak of refusing to be honest with Mainers about her support for him. Today, she campaigned in Springvale surrounded by Trump campaign signs and posed with Trump campaign staff.
But when Senator Collins herself tweeted about the event, she conveniently chose photos with minimal evidence of the Trump campaign presence and appears to have even gone out of her way to blur out the corner of a Trump sign.
“Senator Collins only stays ‘out of presidential politics’ when it’s advantageous to her reelection prospects,” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “She’s more than happy to cozy up to Trump when she’s courting his base – the rest of us deserve the same level of candor. It’s time for Collins to tell Mainers – all Mainers – the truth about who she’s voting for.”
