Job Title: Data Associate
Reports to: Data & Analytics Director
Salary: $5,000/month, generous benefits package. The Maine Democratic Party Coordinated staff is unionized and proud to be represented by IBEW Local Union #1837 for collective bargaining.
Location: Remote (Eastern or Central Time)
Start date: Immediate. This position will run through the November 2024 election.

The Opportunity: As a Data Associate, you will work in a close-knit team to help administer voter contact tools and analyze the resulting data. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and has excellent attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and write code for reports for other departments and external partners in line with key programmatic priorities, particularly the organizing and voter protection teams.
- Maintain and respond to a ticketing system for data support requests and flags.
- Provide timely and relevant analysis of data and fielding requests for specialized research projects, in many cases requiring rapid turnaround.
- Support other data team members to complete projects as necessary, including administering tools such as VAN, Reach, Scale To Win Dialer and Texter, and other voter contact platforms.
- Develop and present VAN training materials to the organizing team in a statewide, small group, and one-on-one settings.
- Produce and share analysis of voter contact results, early vote and absentee turnout, voter registration, and other data relevant to campaigns.
- Requirements include working outside of normal work hours.

Qualifications (Preferred):
- 1+ years of experience applying data and analytics tools in a political campaign setting.
- Previous work, academic, or personal experience with a coding language (SQL, Python, R), data visualization tools (Hex, Looker, Shiny), or GIS/mapping software is a bonus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new skills and platforms used by other team members.
- A track record of prioritizing projects with the ability to be self-directed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and implement creative solutions to unique problems.
