Augusta, Maine — Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett released the following statement in response to Senator Al Franken’s expected announcement tomorrow that he will resign from office following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct:
“Senator Franken would be right to heed the call of his colleagues and step down tomorrow, as is expected. His behavior was inappropriate, demeaning and unacceptable.
"All of us bear the responsibility for building an environment of greater respect toward women, across all industries and in all types of workplaces — our party must be at the forefront of that movement.”
