Collins has already requested an absentee ballot to vote in the presidential election, but continues to dodge questions about who she’s supporting

As Vice President Mike Pence visits Maine today, Senator Susan Collins is staying as far away from one of the leaders of her party as she can. She’s in hiding because even though she’s already requested her absentee ballot, she’s still refusing to tell Mainers whether she will be voting to send Trump and Pence back to the White House for four more years.

Collins has made a political calculation to avoid telling Mainers the truth about her presidential vote, and so she’s spent 674 consecutive days refusing to be honest on this simple question. However, her tactics of avoidance can’t paper over her record from the last four years supporting and enabling Trump:

  • Senator Collins has consistently helped shield Trump from accountability, including voting a dozen times to block witnesses and evidence before she voted to acquit him on all charges in the Senate impeachment trial.

“Senator Collins may want to avoid a photo op with Vice President Pence, but her vote is always there when it counts to support the disastrous policies of this administration,” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “Mainers know that Senator Collins has spent the last four years enabling the disastrous Trump-Pence administration, and they’re ready to send her packing.”
