Senator Susan Collins has accepted more than $1.2 million from Trump’s top donors. This week, Maine Democrats will highlight why the president’s closest allies are spending big to reelect Collins.

Donald Trump has built a massive fundraising operation to fuel his reelection effort, and Senator Susan Collins has jumped on the opportunity to tap into the president’s political fundraising machine. According to her latest campaign finance filings, Collins has accepted more than $90,000 from donors who served as members of the Trump campaign or the pro-Trump America First PAC and people who hosted fundraisers for the president’s campaign.

There’s an obvious reason that the operatives leading the effort to reelect Trump are also boosting Senator Collins’ campaign: they’re counting on a Collins victory so she can vote to advance Trump’s agenda for another term. Collins proved her loyalty to Trump’s inner circle by voting with the president 94% of the time and helping him confirm over 180 right wing judges — now they’re all in to help her stay in power.

For the last 649 days, Collins has refused to be honest with Mainers about whether she’s voting to reelect the president, but all voters need to do is follow the money to see that Collins is an MVP on team Trump.

“Trump’s top lieutenants are putting up major cash to support Senator Collins because they know Trump needs her in the Senate to shield him from accountability and serve as a rubber stamp for his corporate agenda and partisan power grabs,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “Trump is desperate to stay in power, and his closest allies know that Senator Collins is their ticket to controlling the Senate.”
