On August 8, 2016, Senator Susan Collins took a position in the 2016 presidential election in an op-ed published in the Washington Post. At the time, Collins insisted that she could not vote for Trump due to his laundry list of character flaws, and felt it was important that she share how she was voting with Mainers and the nation.

Four years later, Collins has spent the last 601 days refusing to come clean about whether she believes Donald Trump deserves a second term in office and inventing new excuses that “don’t add up” for why she can’t be honest with Mainers about this simple question.

In honor of the anniversary of the op-ed and in memory of when Mainers had a senior Senator they could count on to at least tell us who they think should be the President of the United States, the Maine Democratic Party is releasing an updated version of Senator Collins’ op-ed to reflect Collins’ election year political calculation to not tell Mainers the truth.
