Wolf Is Latest Trump Nominee to Earn Collins Support Despite Controversial Record
Senator Collins just voted yes to advance the nomination of Chad Wolf to become the next Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary for strategy, policy, and plans. Wolf’s nomination has drawn criticism due to his role as one of the architects of the Trump administration’s shameful family separation policy. In his confirmation hearing, he tried to distance himself from the policy by misleading members of the Senate committee.
If confirmed for the undersecretary position, Wolf is likely to be named Acting DHS Secretary, which would mean that Susan Collins helped to put an architect of one of Trump’s cruelest and most controversial policies in the Cabinet, where he would have an even bigger influence over future policy decisions.
