Media Advisory: Maine Democratic Party To Host 2026 State Party Convention

Augusta, Maine – On Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd, the Maine Democratic Party will host the 2026 State Party Convention in Portland, Maine. Over 1,000 delegates, party leaders, candidates, and activists from across the state will gather for training, relationship building opportunities, and more. Many of the Democratic candidates running in competitive races will attend, interact with voters, and speak at the event.

Press can attend the Friday morning kick off at 7 am. In the Democratic spirit of service and community engagement, attendees and candidates will start the convention by volunteering in various capacities. The trainings and workshops the rest of Friday are closed to press. The Victory Banquet Friday night is also closed to press.

Press can return Saturday morning for the full day. Saturday’s schedule is below:  

  • 7:00 AM: Press check-in opens at the Brick South building at Thompson’s Point

  • 10:00 AM: Convention convenes

  • 4:30 PM: Convention gavels out

  • 5:30 – 7:30 PM: Candidate Spotlight & Social – Democratic candidates for Governor, Senate, and Congress will speak and mingle with attendees.

Logistics:

  • Press credentials must be picked up at check-in in Brick South.

  • Press check-in opens Friday at 7:00 AM.

  • The convention will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at approximately 4:30 PM.

  • Security will be present on-site, and all attendees should plan accordingly.

  • Media are strongly encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking, security, and credentialing.
