Collins has requested an absentee ballot to vote in the presidential election, but continues to dodge questions about who she’s supporting

As we enter the final weekend before the election, Senator Susan Collins is hoping that her political calculation to refuse to tell Mainers the truth about her support for Donald Trump will pay off. Despite having her absentee ballot in hand as next Tuesday’s election creeps closer and closer, Collins kept quiet about who she’s voting for, as she has for the last 684 days.

Collins has consistently refused to answer this question because she doesn’t want Mainers to know about her support for President Trump. But no matter how much Collins has tried to muddy the waters, her record is still crystal clear:

  • Senator Collins has consistently helped shield Trump from accountability, including voting a dozen times to block witnesses and evidence before she voted to acquit him on all charges in the Senate impeachment trial.

“Senator Collins is hoping that she’s successfully duped enough voters to eek out reelection without ever being honest about her support for Trump—but Mainers haven’t been fooled by her political games,” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “We know that she’s empowered Trump at every turn these last four years, which is why we are going to send her home for good on November 3rd.”
