Collins has not given Mainers an honest answer about her support for Trump for the last 618 days

This morning, one day after her party formally and unanimously nominated Donald Trump for President, Senator Susan Collins highlighted her good relationship with him, confirmed she won’t be voting for Joe Biden, but still refused to say whether she’ll vote for Trump in a radio interview.

LISTEN:

VIOLETTE: Senator Collins, I have been interviewing you for as long as you’ve been in the Senate, twenty-five or so years. I know what you’re going to answer to this- how you’re going to answer this question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. Are you going to vote for President Trump?

COLLINS: You know Mike, here’s the way I look at this issue. I’ve worked with President Trump, I’ve worked with President Obama, I’ve worked with presidents from both parties and I- I want to continue to have a good relationship with whomever is elected President. [...] And I have developed a good relationship with President Trump and his administration. [...] And those relationships are important on both sides of the aisle, and right now as you can see, I’ve got enough to concentrate on with my own race given the non-stop barrage of falsehoods that are being lobbed at me each and every day. I’ve never seen anything like that.

VIOLETTE: No, I know. I- it’s unbelievable. And all I’ll say this about your answer to the question is Joe Biden does a hell of a lot less damage as a Senator from Delaware as he does with President, so don't vote for Joe Biden, okay?

COLLINS: Okay.

Collins’ latest dodge comes on the heels of her own campaign co-chairman touting his “full throated support” for the President and Maine GOP Chair Demi Kouzounas confirming that Collins and Trump “both support each other.” With just 70 days left until Election Day, Collins is running out of time to come clean with Mainers on her support for Trump.
