Following the news that Shenna Bellows has been elected secretary of state, Matt Dunlap has been elected state auditor, Henry Beck has been re-elected state treasurer, and Aaron Frey has been re-elected attorney general, Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra released the following statement:

“Maine has always been a leader in voter turnout and ensuring fair elections, and I’m confident that Shenna Bellows will continue to improve on that tradition as secretary of state. I wish her every success as she continues the hard work of overseeing our elections and ensuring that every eligible Mainer can make their voice heard.

“I also want to thank Matt Dunlap for safeguarding our elections under the most challenging of circumstances as secretary of state and congratulate him on his new role as Maine’s state auditor.

“Henry Beck has done extraordinary work keeping our state’s finances strong and putting middle class families front and center as Maine’s state treasurer, and I’m proud that he’ll continue in this role for another term.

“Finally, Aaron Frey has been a staunch defender of the Affordable Care Act to protect Mainers’ health care, and I know he’ll continue to fight for us while serving another term as Maine’s attorney general.”
