Westbrook, MAINE – In case you missed it, the Bangor Daily News Editorial Board today highlighted the LePage Administration’s failure to address the opioid epidemic that’s taking the life of one Mainer a day.

The BDN specifically called out former DHHS Commissioner turned Republican gubernatorial candidate Mary Mayhew for over-selling a state program meant to provide treatment to those suffering from addiction but that has turned out to be an utter failure.

“The state is facing an opioid addiction epidemic that’s killing about one Mainer a day. Yet, the LePage administration hasn’t been treating it seriously,” the BDN wrote. “While Mayhew claimed the opioid health home was an ‘innovative program,’ it’s proven so cumbersome that it doesn’t pass as a response to a deadly, statewide problem.”
