81 Days to Defeat a Senator Who Votes With Bush 81% of the Time

This Thursday marks 81 days until Election Day—symbolic given that Susan Collins votes with President Bush 81% of the time! There is plenty of time to get involved and make sure she doesn’t have a chance to continue to vote against the interest of Mainers, which she always has done on the big issues like energy, economic policies, and health care by voting instead with George Bush. Do your part today by spreading the word about her record to your friends and family, and get involved Thursday (or soon) at a local Democratic office near you (see below).

2,008 Phone Calls for a 2,008 Victory – This Thursday

To be part of the statewide effort this Thursday, August 14th, when every county will set a goal to make 2,008 phone calls in a single day, click here to find a location near you, or to find a list of phone-bank and canvassing opportunities in your county this week.

Host an Obama Convention Speech Party!

The National Democratic Convention is just around the corner. And you can take part from the comfort of your very own home on Thursday, August 28th, when Barack Obama makes history by accepting his party's nomination as the Democratic candidate for President.

The Maine Democratic Party is looking for enthusiastic Democrats across the state to host a "watch party" at their home and raise $500 for the Party. Anyone interested should contact Erin Barnes at ebarnes@mainedems.org or 772-4353.

Service workers represented by the over 10,000-member Maine State Employees Association, Local 1989 of the Service Employees International Union, today announced their endorsement of Chellie Pingree in Maine’s First Congressional District.

“Chellie Pingree has been a friend of working families, including MSEA-SEIU members, for many years,” said Augusta resident Donna Doore, chairwoman of the MSEA-SEIU political action committee known as Political Action by Service Employees & Retirees. “Chellie stood by working families in the Maine Senate and as past president and CEO of Common Cause.
