4th of July Events

Friday is Independence Day! What better day to share our message about the need for change in November than our nation’s birthday! The Victory 2008 staff and Democratic volunteers will have a phenomenal presence at 4th of July activities in every corner of Maine, including marching in at least 20 parades!

We’d love you to join us. So find your sneakers and call your local office for meeting time and location if you’d like to join the Coordinated Campaign Staff in showcasing the power of Democratic Activism that is sweeping Maine this year.

Parades in which we’ll be participating: Houlton, Freeport, Rangeley, Farmington, Bar Harbor, Deer Isle, Winslow, Augusta, Thomaston, Round Pond, Waterford, Brewer, Bath, West Athens, Brooks, Searsport, Eastport, Machias, Old Orchard Beach, and Sanford.

If you don’t see your community listed above and would like to set up a parade presence, call your local county office.

Also, if you’re in the Bangor area, head out to the Bangor office (73 Central Street) this Wednesday, July 2nd from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. to make t-shirts, posters and banners for the parades. You may even get lucky with an appearance from a special guest!

Tom Allen offers universal health care plan; will unveil aggressive energy plan Wednesday

As you’ve probably heard, Tom Allen is the only U.S. Senate candidate this year to offer a universal health care plan.

Tom’s plan targets Maine’s specific needs, notably the financial challenges for small businesses in providing employee health coverage, access to medical care in rural areas, and relief for middle-class families and individuals who are struggling to afford health insurance. Please read more about his plan on his web site.

Tom will unveil his bold new energy plan in a Bangor press conference on Wednesday, July 2nd. His plan addresses the immediate needs of helping Mainers cope with soaring home heating fuel costs now, along with a sensible but aggressive long-term strategy.
