MDP Reflects on 100 Days of Resistance

AUGUSTA, Maine – Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett today released the following statement reflecting on President Trump’s first 100 days in office.

“President Trump’s first 100 days in office have been marked by broken promises to working people, harmful policies that hurt real Mainers, and blatant corruption,” said Bartlett. “He demonstrated his lack of preparation for the job when he recently said he ‘thought it would be easier’ to be President of the most powerful nation in the world."

“These first 100 days have also been marked by energetic grassroots activism across the country, and especially here in Maine. It is due in part to the strength of this resistance that President Trump has failed remarkably and repeatedly since election day. We thank our supporters for standing up and fighting with us.

“It is not enough to fight against President Trump – we must also fight for progressive policies of our own. Recently, the Maine Democratic Party traveled all over the state to hear from our supporters at 11 regional public forums. The priorities they expressed to us are represented in Maine Democrats' alternative state budget, the Opportunity Agenda.

“The Maine Democratic Party has a positive vision for our state. We will continue fighting to make that vision a reality for the next hundred days, and the next hundred, and the next – until Trump’s first and only term as President comes to an end.”
