Take Action!

Join our Fall Rise and Organize Internship Program!

Program Overview

The Maine Democratic Party is looking for Maine‚Äôs enthusiastic, politically-minded, future leaders for our Fall Organizing Internship Program! Fall Organizing Interns will get hands-on experience doing substantive work while learning the fundamentals of working in campaign politics. Interns will work with an organizing staffer to execute key organizing programs including developing grassroots volunteer infrastructure, executing voter contact efforts, and assisting with logistics for the MDP "Run Local" program that trains Democrats to run for local office.

An intern can expect to learn about key organizing ideas such as volunteer development and team building, coalition building, data management, and voter contact. Organizing/Outreach interns should love working with people, be goal-oriented, and be able to juggle multiple priorities at once. By the end of the fall, each intern should feel ready to jump onto the campaign trail or into a progressive organization.

Interns will devise a schedule with their supervisor that will include some time working with their community and some time working with their supervisor in person. Internships are unpaid. Applicants who are students at University of Maine (Farmington, Augusta, Orono), Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, or who live in Washington, Hancock, Waldo, Knox or Lincoln counties are highly encouraged to apply.  Travel for assignments will be reimbursed. Part-time interns will be expected to commit at least 15 hours per week. Full-time interns will be expected to commit at least 30 hours per week.
