June 22, 2010
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement about the loss of
Sergeant Brandon Silk, 25, of Orono who was killed Monday while serving with
the Company C, 101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division in
Afghanistan. Sgt. Silk was a Black Hawk Helicopter crew chief, stationed
at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Sgt. Silk died of wounds during a hard landing in
Afghanistan.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sergeant Silk’s family in this time of
loss. We are forever indebted to Sergeant Silk for his service and
sacrifice to the nation. All the men and women who serve our country in
uniform do so knowing they may one day make the ultimate sacrifice, but that
doesn’t diminish the sadness and loss we feel when one of them dies in the line
of duty.”
