Maine Dems Announce New Executive Director

AUGUSTA- Tuesday, the Maine Democratic Party announced the nomination of its new executive director.  "We looked long and hard and eventually found that the best candidate was right here working at MDP HQ," said John Knutson, Party Chairman.  Knutson continued, "I am pleased to announce that as of today Mary Erin Casale will serve as the Maine Democratic Party's new executive director."

Mary Erin Casale, a Portland native and graduate of Simmons College was selected as the Party's new executive director following a several week search process.  Ms. Casale served most recently as regional field director for the Maine Democratic Party and has extensive communications experience and a field background. Prior to working at the Maine Democratic Party, Ms. Casale spent time as a media director in Washington DC and worked on Chellie Pingree's US Senate race in 2002.

Arden Manning, coordinated campaign manager and former executive director, commented on the Party's decision, "I am thrilled to leave the operations of the Maine Democratic Party in such capable hands.  Mary Erin is an excellent choice and will provide continuity and strong leadership for the Maine Democratic Party for years to come."

Acting executive director, Mary Erin Casale commented, "I am honored to represent my fellow Maine Democrats in this significant role.  After spending the last few years in Washington DC, I am glad to be home, and am anxious to continue the work that the MDP has been doing so well.  At this early stage, there is a great deal to learn, and even more to be accomplished.  I am extremely inspired by this challenge and look forward to the progress to be made."

Ms. Casale will serve as acting executive director until her nomination is approved by the Democratic State Committee at a meeting later this month.
