MichaudPraises Release of Green Economy Funding for Maine

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Mike Michaud praised the U.S.Department of Labor's release of $3,999,923 for the Northeast Consortium's"Making Green Real" proposal, which is a regional effort to establish a solidframework for the green economy.  Additional information on the grant fromthe U.S. Department of Labor is attached.

"With a growing clean energy sector, it's important to have a solidframework in place so that employers and prospective employees succeed in thegreen economy," said Michaud.  "This grant funding will help Maine improvethe future green job employment and training landscape."

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, State Labor Market Information(LMI) Improvement grants will support the analysis of labor market data toassess economic activity in energy efficiency and renewable energy industriesand identify occupations and skill requirements within those industries. These grants invest in state and consortium models designed to collect, analyze,and disseminate labor market information, and enhance the labor exchangeinfrastructure for careers within energy efficiency and renewable energyfields. State Workforce Agencies will use this information as the foundation onwhich to build and implement effective workforce development strategies. Multiple State Workforce Agencies partnering as a consortium will gatherinformation that may have a regional, multi-State, or national impact.
