Congresswoman Chellie Pingree announces $100 million incontracts for work at BIW and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Workwill include DDG 1000 and repairs to dry dock at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee,today announced nearly $100 million in Navy contracts for Bath Iron Works andCianbro Corporation.
"Both BIW and Cianbro have a well earned reputation for high quality, on-timework-and these contracts are a reflection of that."
Bath Iron Works is being awarded a $79.5 million modification to a previouscontract to exercise an option for additional services related to the designand construction of the DDG 1000, for work to be performed in Bath.
This year the House Armed Services Committee authorized funding for thecompletion of a third DDG 1000 at BIW. "I worked with my colleagues onthe Committee to get this funding," Pingree said. "Because it is criticalto keep workers at BIW fully employed."
Cianbro Corporation is being awarded a $19.5 million contract for work on a drydock at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery. The work is expected to takeplace over the next year.
"The repair work in Kittery is necessary to maintain capacity at the PortsmouthNaval Shipyard," Pingree said. "The yard has proven that they are atremendous asset for the Navy and improvements and maintenance of theinfrastructure there is essential to keeping the yard operating at full capacity."
Earlier this year Pingree toured both Bath Iron Works and the Portsmouth NavalShipyard with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus.
