Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on the discovery
of cases of H1N1 (swine) flu in Maine.
"I am very concerned to hear that three cases of swine flu have been discovered
in Maine. My thoughts are with those individuals and I hope they recover
quickly.
I am following developments involving the spread of the flu carefully.
Today we received a briefing from Secretary of Homeland Security Janet
Napolitano, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and Dr.
Anne Schuchat from the Centers for Disease Control on what is being done to
monitor the situation and minimize the spread of the flu."
"I urge everyone in Maine to take commonsense precautions to prevent the spread
of disease. The Centers for Disease Control has excellent resources online
and I have provided links to those resources on my website."
